A.H. Fox “DE” grade 12 gauge. Breech ends are engraved with 2-1/2” triangles of large scroll with stippled backgrounds. Case hardened action features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), and double triggers. The action is engraved with large scrolling acanthus with stippled backgrounds, griffin heads on fences, and a grouse with chicks on the bottom in circular vignette. Floral engraving on trigger plate is exceptionally well done. Oval scenes of game birds on sides of action; snipe on left and flying quail on right with :Ansley H. Fox” in banners. The matching trigger guard has a central shield and bow gold inlaid with “F” in script. The serial number is gold inlaid on the tang. Beautifully streaked Circassian walnut Fox capped pistol grip buttstock measuring 14-3/8” over ribbed composition buttplate.
